Costume and Set Design
2005 Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People; Allen MacInnis Dir.
This classic Korean folktale has been adapted to embrace a new generation of all children.
Set Design notes. Inspired from Korean Traditions: puppet, masks and storytelling. The theatre is set in thrust configuration to allow the audience to participate with the troupe of storytellers. The set, a suggestive space, transforms resourcefully with prop, puppet, mask and costume elements.
Costume Design notes. Based loosely on traditional style Hanbok: peasant dress, loose fitting movement based clothing, Ritual garments and character driven roles are added to this base, allowing ease in transformations and layering of actors’ performances.
